CUVIS-spine Launches Full-Scale Clinical Surgeries Under Korea's Innovative Medical Technology Program
Date : 2026-06-17
• Adoption continues to grow at major medical centers, including Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital and Yongin Severance Hospital, as efforts advance toward future National Health Insurance coverage
CUREXO, a medical robotics company, announced on June 16 that the multicenter clinical study for evidence generation under Korea's Innovative Medical Technology Program using its robotic spine surgery system, CUVIS-spine, has officially begun at Chung-Ang University Hospital and Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital.
Designated as an Innovative Medical Technology by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, CUVIS-spine is currently being evaluated through multicenter clinical studies at leading medical institutions across Korea. The recent procedures performed at Chung-Ang University Hospital and Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital represent clinical applications of the technology within the study and are expected to further expand real-world experience and clinical data from actual surgical settings.
CUVIS-spine is a robotic spine surgery system that provides precise guidance for spinal implant placement through preoperative image-based planning and real-time tracking technology. By combining robotic accuracy with conventional surgical approaches that have traditionally relied heavily on physician experience, the system helps reduce surgical variability and maximize patient safety.
In addition, through its collaboration with CG Bio, CUVIS-spine is expanding its presence in both domestic and international spine surgery markets. The company is also strengthening its competitiveness in the field by building a robot-navigation-based spine surgery platform.
CUREXO has been accumulating real-world clinical cases at participating institutions in the Innovative Medical Technology Program, including Yonsei Severance Hospital, Chung-Ang University Hospital, and Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital. Adoption of CUVIS-spine is also expanding to other major healthcare institutions, including Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital and Yongin Severance Hospital.
A CUREXO representative stated, "With Innovative Medical Technology procedures now being performed at Chung-Ang University Hospital and Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, the number of real-world clinical applications of CUVIS-spine continues to increase. Based on the clinical experience being accumulated across various medical institutions, we will continue working to establish the foundation for reimbursement, including National Health Insurance coverage, while contributing to the advancement of spine surgery in Korea."
